The La Plata High School Band and Orchestra program provides students a variety of performing experiences including Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Orchestra as well as opportunities to perform in small ensemble settings.
In recent years several La Plata alumni have gone on to study and perform in many prestigious collegiate music programs including:

Virginia Tech
William and Mary
The Marching Band has won numerous awards at local and regional competitions including first place in their class at the USSBA South East Virginia Regional and Navy/Marine Corps Invitational in 2009.
Both the Orchestra and Symphonic Band earned Superior Ratings at the 2010 District XI Festival and performed at the Maryland State Festival in 2008 and 2010.
